Seven is the very definition of the term modern classic. This film is like a fine wine it ages well. It is several years since I last saw Seven, but it has lost none of it's impact. Seven is one of only two films that I have seen that have really scared me. Now I don't mean scared as in jumping when Freddy pops up on screen . I mean scared as in walking out of the theater afterwards in a daze thinking 'what have I just watched?' I mean thinking about the film for days afterwards, thinking 'what would I do if a man had a gun in my mouth and told me to f*** a woman with a razor sharp dildo?' or 'what would it be like to be strapped to bed for a year?'. And that ending , it's just unbelievable.

This film also looks great, especially on the new DVD. The film is very dark and what colours there are jump of the screen there so vibrant. David Fincher sealed his place in film history with this excellent film (I still reckon there is an excellent cut of Alien3 somewhere before the studio got to it), the lighting and constant rain give the film an oppressive look to go with it's tone. Andrew Kevin Walker must be disturbed individual to have come up with this script. The lead performances are good, with Freeman giving an almost effortless turn as a veteran homicide cop who's seen it all. Special note must go to Kevin Spacey who plays John Doe; he once again proves why he has scooped two Oscars.

I just cannot fault this movie and with four commentaries and a second disc bursting with behind the scenes extras this DVD is a must have for any film fan.

10/10 for Seven.
